Fundamentals of Data Protection
This course is designed for employees in the SMA. It is mandatory. All new and existing employees are required to demonstrate competency.
Course Objectives:
- By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define key terms and concepts related to data protection.
- Understand the importance of data protection and its benefits.
- Identify different types of personal data and their sensitivity levels.
- Explain the key principles of data protection Legislation (Jamaican Data Protection Act ‘JDPA’).
- Understand individual rights regarding their data and how to exercise them.
- Identify common data security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Describe best practices for secure data handling and storage.
- Recognize the ethical implications of data collection and use.
